Starting The Cabinet Mock-Up

I am a visual person.  Although SketchUp renderings are very beneficial, for this project, I need to see a physical entity in front of me.  This will help me visualize the physical size and its feel of balance (too tall compared to width/depth).  So I grabbed my stash of cardboard, ruler, knife, hot glue gun and got busy.

I started off with the push platform and then build the play field around it.

That gave me a footprint of about 16" wide and 18" deep.  Adding a 2" drop section in the front will bring it to 18" square.  I then decided to try a 5" height (from the table top to the play field).

So far it is feeling balanced and comfortable. Next is to determine the height and side panel profile.  With the side profile design I want, this is a little more tricky.  I'll just make some good guesses and see how it looks.  More on this later so stay tuned.
